====== Eremipula ======
The "Gate to the east," Eremipula is an ancient fortress city that guards the [[.:Paranatol]], the best crossing point between [[polemos:4th_age:factions:agothos|Agothos]] and upper [[polemos:4th_age:factions:gyag|Gyag]].
The city is set within arrow range of a pair of bridges over the narrow canyon of the right tributary of the [[.:Konagaleon River]].
Further down the road the safest ford across the left tributary and the fastest pass through the southern arm of the Chloros Mountains are found.
The northern 'Old Bridge' was built in ancient times and is situated on a winding road that winds behind the city to the "Old Gate."
During the [[polemos:3rd_age:events:elesh_rebellion|Great War]] the southern and larger 'Salvation Bridge' was created through miracle to allow large armies of Heaven to march across the span with the heaviest siege equipment.

At the end of the Great War he population of Eremipula was much diminished, and many left to seek greener pastures or guard more important frontiers.
Over the centuries much of the city has been abandoned and left to ruin.
The old walls are largely left unrepaired and the major gates are left open.
The inner bastion, however, still provides a large base to send patrols to protect both the pass and bridges.
