====== Meikyou Disaster ======
[[polemos:8th_age:locations:Meikyou]], the old capitol of [[polemos:8th_age:factions:touyou|Touyou]], was a huge megapolis of over 18 million residents. It was also known to be one of the most energy-hungry location in the world. For this reason it had the highest concentration of [[polemos:8th_age:technologies:k-h|K-H]] generators known to date.  

On AE 226/2/12 when the Haitenshi Corporation on-lined a new reactor it created a feedback loop that caused some of the most violent and widespread pollution effects ever recorded. Over 30,000 people died in the initial blast, with hundreds of thousands injured. Through a frantic international effort millions of people were evacuated from the city, but many would develop major medical problems. Scientist estimated at the time that Meikyou would be uninhabitable for 20 years. By AE 243 their predictions had been proven overly-optimistic, as only 30% of the original area had been cleaned.
