====== Operation Brutal Line ====== Operation Brutal Line was a ranger mission conducted Seraph Squad to coordinate and support FedSec in their mission to prevent terrorist attacks against the Pyrkagian Commonwealth, specifically during their snap elections. ^Start Date |241/11/13 | ^Main Objective |Prevent planned Phyrin Syndicate attack on nacent Pyrkagian Commonwealth government. | ^Mission Status |Complete - Mission Failed | ===== Travel to Pyrkagia ===== Seraph squad traveled to Pyrkagia via discrete civilian ground transportation. On an overnight stop in a small farm town they met Sheryl, a self-described fangirl of the ranger corp and member of the "Oathmen" organization. As a non-ranger member of the Eleythos Pteros Episke, she helped run a local food bank where they got rooming for the night. Several of the rangers indulged in attempts to impress Sheryl with ranger weaponry and firearm skill. Otherwise the journey to Van'Fel was uneventful. ===== Pyrkagia ===== Upon arrival at the Commonwealth capitol in Van'Fel Seraph squad linked up with FEDSEC agent Fenwyl and their Commonwealth liason Jen'vo'veh. They were briefed on the current situation in the Commonwealth - Interim Prime Minister Hal'ev'que was appointed by the ARC and as his first act called for snap elections to a constitutional assembly to write the first-ever Pyrkagian constitution. The lay of the land for the election was: - The Blue Flame party, led by the PM, was popular with the middle class and those with ties to other parts of the old republic. Their ideal constitution would be republican in nature and would have been Rovlin-compatible for possible application to the UFPF or some other post civil war integration. - The Phyrin syndicate, recently embroiled in the insurgency to oust FPU occupation, had called for a boycott of the elections and were generally seeking to sow lawlessness and chaos for their benefit. - Members of the Red Sun party, mainly soldiers in the newly formed Commonwealth Armed Forces and other social traditionalists, sought to oppose the syndicate influence but achieve true Pyrkagian independence. Their ideal constitution would be an elected monarchy and would be explicitly not Rovlin-compatible and would include provisions to seek full independence at the ART peace conference. The main job of the rangers were to counteract Phyrin threats to disrupt the election. Before their investigation could begin in earnest however, PM Hal'ev'que was assassinated by an augmented gang member on the steps of the Commonwealth government compound. Ranger Ethos chased down and killed the assassin. Blue Flame vice president Kav'que'deux took over the fight for the republican/pro-Agathos cause. Local Pyrkagian police quickly brushed over the investigation, but the rangers found shooters identity to be one Ron'veux, a known syndicate member. After losing other leads to corruption and incompetence in the local police (namely a conspirator named Man'se), Seraph squad raided a syndicate-owned restaurant named the Quan'se Dan'se. Instead of relying on local police the rangers instead used military forces under the incorruptible General Pul'ok'deux. After interrogating the owner Gran'se the rangers found a bomb making lab in a secret room. Analyzing camera footage they identified the bomb maker to be another syndicate member Ban'veux. They also discovered Gran'se had been covertly fed nanomachines filled with radio-activated poison sacs by the syndicate as a form of leverage. They took him to a hospital and the ranger Inquisitor helped flush his blood. They also met a nurse named Elise'que'vo and recommended her for the Oathmen. Seraph squad tracked Ban'veux down to a VR arcade in the trade/foreign district called Com-VR Club. After the ranger Crownclown hacked in a membership they confronted the bomb maker and, threatening him with VR paralysis, obtained the named of the bomber and the likely target. Seraph squad made plans to find a syndicate member named Tips on Vulcan Avenue on the day of the election. Vulcan Avenue on election day was the site of a Blue Flame's rally. The crowd was receptive to the Pteros's presence. After spotting Tips they trailed him to a nearby confection store where they found the bomb. Commonwealth military were able to prevent remote detonation through a jamming signal, but the bomb could still be manually triggered. Through a dynamic and aggressive entry the ranger Ruckus severed Tips's arm just before he could manually detonate the bomb, and the rest of the crew surrendered. As they were mopping up, however, several other explosive devices rocked Van'Fel and other cities across Pyrkagia. The ranger had stopped only a small cog in a large and organized syndicate machine. Before Seraph Squad could react and begin a post-attack investigation they were recalled back to Ft. Vigil due to the USC's fielding of the //Salvation// and //Gelaunth// MARCS-class ships.
