A giant swirling vortex that dominates northeast Centras, the Maelstorm is one of the largest and most visible scars left by the Great War. Also known as the “Thunderwell” or the “Eye of Thymos” the continuous magical storms in the region are gathered into a huge cyclone that dominates the sky even hundreds of miles away. Thunderstorms and other, stranger, storms are regularly cast off, and the high winds dominate the weather cycles of surrounding regions. Many speculate that a worldtear or other portal could be at the center of the storm, but no firm theories exist. Travel into the maelstorm is usually deemed suicidal, though legends of desperate travelers emerging from the storm as raving lunatics are known.
