Joash La’ Terent

Clan

Joash was born on southern edge of Drakontas. His clan, like most Dragoon clans, chooses to follow the old ways of magic and fighting. What sets them apart is that they do not detest modern technology, they just preach against technology for technology’s sake. They do their best to strike a proper balance.

Birth

Being born blind, Joash lived his life in darkness till the age of 13. Because of this he never received a Birth Sword. The clan decided that denying him a weapon outright would be cruel and be more debilitating than his blindness ever could be, so they blessed a staff as his birth weapon. This became both an aid for his disability and a weapon.

Implants

His clan eventually found a surgeon willing to give Joash eye implants. Joash was 13 at this time. A combination of poverty and on sight surgery meant that Joash received old and outdated eyes. This did not decrease their functionality; however, they were obviously mechanical. They are steel orbs with visible gears and slots for the iris to shift and change size. What would be the pupil is a red glowing light.

It took months for Joash to learn to properly use his new eyes. There was no one in his clan that had experience with cybernetics to teach him. When he would get frustrated with teaching himself, Joash would dawn a blind fold to go back to being blind.

Arcane

After Joash had mastered his new eyes his clan leader decided that he should learn the ways of the Arcane. Projection was chosen for him as his primary focus. This did not come easy for Joash since his entire world had only been what was within his reach for his entire life till this point. Arcane Auras came more naturally since he was so in tune with his own body.

Becoming a Monk

Once Joash had become proficient in the ways of magic the Elder sent him out into the world. Joash’s unique circumstance, being a dragoon of the old ways and having implants, made him the ideal evangelist for the beliefs of his clan. He then traveled trying to show people that while technology makes life easier, it is not a replacement for the old ways. The two can work in harmony.
