Final Battle - Reiko

You watch in terror as you see the Chaos Bomb descend slowly from the Benevolence. From behind her cover you hear Reiko call out, “Oh shit! No! Guys, cover me!” She then leaps out and sprints straight for the end of the root-top. She is completely out in the open.

The enemy positions light up and a flood of weapon's fire fills the air. You quickly return fire with whatever you have available- magic spells, firearms, whatever can draw the attention of the enemy away from your exposed comrade.

Suddenly as she nears the edge of the roof a grenade detonates only a few feet behind her- the concussive blast knocking her into open space. For a moment you fear she will fall to her death, but seconds later you see her scream upwards in a flurry of feathers that stream off her angelic wings. She flies upward towards the dark sphere with amazing speed. She holds her arm up high, slowing as she approaches the writhing ball, and plunges her hand into the chaos energy. You cringe at the thought of what you expect to happen.

All at once, however, the giant orb changes color to a pale shimmering blue. The once churning darkness of the energy is removed and is seemingly washed away by it's serene replacement. It shrinks slightly as Reiko gently places her other hand inside it. It slows to nothing but a hover and she rotates the orb to where she resembles a bird grasping a grand fish in her talons. With a hard flap of her wings she heaves it upwards, apparently taking it to the front of the MARCS ship. She accelerates quickly and races forward.

The Benevolence soon takes notice that their ultimate weapon has been disabled, and the entire firepower of a MARCS-class ship is directed at one small woman. She is quick and surprisingly nimble with her load, however, and she continues to her destination unscathed as shells and energy beams roar past her. It takes her only a few moments to reach the front of the ship - she moves herself far in front of its path. As the enemy fire continues to stream past her she holds the azure sphere above her head, her aura burning brightly. She says in a booming voice that echoes around the entire city, “Hear me, Keeper! Your child has become tainted; it is now a demon. You may deny my ancestors, but you will not deny me! Agkelos, Aeyana Den!”

With those words the dark sky of Agalos is shattered by dozens of brilliant beams of soft light. They flicker gently and soon you can see streaming from them angelic hosts of legend. These are not the scrawny imitations you have seen with Michael. They are radiant people who, even though they are far above you, instantly fill your heart with awe and reverence. Reiko continues to hold high her ever-contracting orb, pointing a single finger at the dark leviathan that looms in front of her. Her voice booms out again, even reaching the far edges of the lake, “Disarm him!”

The Agkelos immediately fly into action, swarming the floating city like a flock of gulls against a black mountain. With blinding speed they obliterate any and all weapons on the ship with their searing holy light. The battlefield soon grows silent.

For a moment the Benevolence floats peacefully high above and your spirit leaps as it realizes the miracle that has just occurred. Slowly, however, the ship groans downward, the Divine Machine within deciding it better to ram the city rather than retreat in failure. The deaths would range in the hundreds of thousands.

For a moment the angels look as if they will gather to destroy the falling vessel, but Reiko waves them away, “No, do not kill them. I thank you for what you have done for us, but we humans must carry what we can. He is so powerful that he can only see his own hatred; he cannot see that there is a better way. I will protect my own, and I hope that in so doing I can guide his way as well.” She raises her wings up high, and rockets forward with the sphere towards the Benevolence.

As Reiko races forward she holds the Chaos Orb behind as if she were about to throw it. It shrinks rapidly until it fits neatly in her hand. As it does so it glows brighter and brighter, until Reiko herself is hidden by it's blinding radiance. She streaks across the sky like a blazing comet towards the port side of the MARCS ship. The sphere is now a single point of light, brighter than the midday sun. With sadness in her eyes she thrusts it into the hull of the craft and the sky is filled with a fiery explosion.

This causes the Benevolence to swing hard to starboard. As it turns it rumbles over the rooftops of the city shaking the ground violently, until it crashes headlong into the lake to the south. The waters are sent up hundreds of meters, and as the city is washed in the ensuing rain you see the skies clear. The sun beams brightly over the land. A rainbow shines over the newly added spire in the lake, and marks the end of the USC's threat to Agalos City.
