Orthophysis

Orthophysis (or: right nature) is a philosophy that espouses limiting the use of magic within the natural world. The philosophy is attributed to Nimas, who saw the world destroyed through unchecked magic in the Worldbreak. Many religions incorporate aspects of Orthophysis and see nature as a set of laws to be followed, and view magic as a kind of breach of those laws. The particulars of how best to protect natural laws vary widely among orthophysi, with many in favor of regulated use of magic for limited purposes, while others seek an absolute end to all magic use.

The common ground of these beliefs often leads Orthophysi to cooperate with one another for shared Orthophysis goals, temporarily setting aside ideological or religious differences. Some Orthophysi train to become “anti-magi” - magic users that use their powers to dampen or nullify magical effects. Others may be priests with no magical ability, or simple people that have strong revulsion to seeing a magus at work.
