The 9th Age of Man
The 9th age begins with the perfection of the Vannhausen Device that allows for vehicles to move past the Eriv Zone and exit the atmosphere. Near-light speed engines are eventually built, allowing for relatively fast travel within the Aelios system. The age ends with the invention of Faster-Than-Light engines.
