During the Mu Crisis the Anistemi filled the power vacuum left during the defense of Polus, but [[polemos:celestials:illyian|Illyian]] recognized the organization was not designed to grow beyond a certain size, nor was direct military action one of its strengths. "The Akris" was created to make up for these limitations. The Akris charter restricts it's mission to the defeat of the Mu. Since Mu do not attack any other species other than humans in an organized manner the Akris is officially a human endeavor. Other mortal races participate, of course, but few rise to command positions. While the Akris is not technically a client organization of the Anistemi, Illyian remains the symbolic leader and often acts as a king-maker in internal matters. All Akris members wear uniforms with the symbol of "the mountain"- A long horizontal line with a vertical triangle above it all in white. Akris uniforms are usually gray and full cloaks and capes are common among officers and elite units. ===== Organization ===== The Akris is led by the General Council and the Commander in Chief, and is divided into several divisions for specialization purposes. ==== General Council ==== Formal command of the Akris is granted to the General Council, however it only has power when it can convene- at all other times the Commander in Chief has unlimited command authority. Each nation is given one voting member to its highest ranking individual, regardless of the chain of command. Any person of general rank or above also sits on the council for their nation, but act as non-voting members. Three voting members have partial veto power: the voting general of Agothos, the voting general of the 39 Shards, and the voting general of Touyou. Touyou is intended to act as check against the notoriously bad blood between the other two veto nations. A measure before the council can be vetoed only by the agreement of 2 members with partial veto power. ==== Commander in Chief ==== The Commander in Chief has complete authority when the General Council is unable to convene- most commonly when in battle. The Commander must be a member of the General Council, and is a voting member with a partial veto regardless of the seat he occupies on the council. ==== Order of Battle ==== === Enomotia === //The Oathmen// Irregularly formed units that fill the bulk of the army. All that is required to be part of the Enomotia is to swear an oath promising to exterminate the Mu, whatever the cost. For this reason people of a diverse range of nations, religions, creeds, languages and races fight under the Akris as part of the Enomotia. In addition to being tasked with missions that require high manpower, it supports the other divisions when they need mass unskilled labor. === Neosoikos === //The New Family// A large engineering corp dedicated to the construction, maintenance, and defense of the "pier"- the massive moving city that allows the land based elements of the Akris to rest from time to time. The neosoikos wear quartered shield emblems with the mountain symbol at the top right and a sun in the bottom left. Their motto is "Labor for the Dawn." === Anthropismos Rhuter === //Guardians of Humanity// Elite auxiliary units that are tasked with force reconnaissance and liberation of human population centers while the main army focuses on Mu destruction. Many historically elite units, from Agothonian Rangers to Aeseri Zhenka are assigned under the Rhuter. Calvary units are common. The Rhuter wears gray cloaks but flies green banners- the color of hope. Their emblem is the mountain with a spoked wheel as an underlay. === Eleytheros Pteros === //Wings of Liberty// An elite unit that works in close concert with the Eleytheros Anistemi for strategic goals. When the Anistemi fights in direct combat with the Akris it does so under the banner of the Pteros. Pteros members wear distinctive burgundy cloaks and their Akris symbol features an overlay of a pair of wings with black feathers at the bottom fading to white feathers at the top. Non-angel members of the Pteros often ride flying mythical pegasi supplied by the Anistemi. All members are highly trained veterans drawn from other divisions, and are equally capable with both bow and blade. Shields are rarely used to allow for quicker switches to bows. Members carry very specialized arrows (for example: signal arrows, arrows filled with holy oil, etc) and are always equipped with covered lanterns for a quick ignition source. Standing saddles are used almost exclusively. The Pteros is often used as a strategic asset in battle due to it's skill. Members operate in 2-6 man teams and use highly coordinated teamwork to take down enemies that would normally take hundreds. The casualty rate amongst the Pteros is consistently high, but morale is rarely affected; the Pteros has never routed. polemos/4th_age/factions/akris_anistemi.txt Last modified: 2020/08/15 16:04by 127.0.0.1
