While conservatives still inflame sentiments against “narrow-minded” nations in the region, the Ruling Council has enough pragmatism to realize that they are surrounded by cultures fundamentally unfriendly to them. Recently, Prince Ryzieal has done much to promote the state religion as a “Faith of Wisdom and Peace,” and has held many interfaith and state meetings – and has even reformed the state economy to allow for more private property and personal rights. Just before the outbreak of the Long War Delfoon was implementing reforms bargained for by the FPA in exchange for economic benefits. With the outbreak of war, however, it quickly joined the NIST so as not to be without friends in the melee.
