====== EB'G ======
The //EligBeltzfrag'Grosmulaben// (translated: //Holy Order for the Defense of the Borderlands//) is the only Anthegalian government branch allowed to leave the home land (Anthaben, or the land of anthegal) and deal directly with the outlands/borderlands (Mulaben, or the land of man). Members of the EB'G are generally called //Engen// (translated: agent), and are tasked primarily with:
  - Ensuring evil in the world of man never reaches the point that it threatens Anthaben.
  - Keeping men divided and weak so they cannot challenge Anthegalia directly. This includes pressing political and cultural wedges, and ensuring Anthegalian technological supremacy.

Secondarily, the EB'G also acts internally to ensure that domestic issues do not interfere with their primary objectives.

===== Ranks =====
Ranks in the EB'G are split between those of //nobility//, who belong full-time to the EB'G and act as officers, and //militia//, who are often on loan from other military units or civilian life and conform closely to the ranks of the home guard.

==== Noble Ranks ====

  * **Margrev/Margrevina** - The highest rank of EB'G agents are those that have both title of nobility, and have been granted actual land in the Anthaben to use to consolidate power and wealth. They usually have social standing equivalent to a baron or count, but have all the additional authority of the EB'G. Margrevs often intervene in ducal councils and spend the majority of their time keeping the EB'G well-funded and politically connected.
  * **Marquis/Marquiness** - The lower rank of nobility, who are allowed to speak for the EB'G in courts but do not themselves own land. They are both the vast majority of EB'G commanding officers, and domestically are often picked to serve as Judges (who operate independently much like [[polemos:8th_age:factions:rangers|Rangers]]) because of their perceived distance from the usual political biases.

==== Militia Ranks ====

  * **Knight/Dame** - Staff officer level rank but without full-time career status and generally not given authority for independent action, but are given the authority of Aelirvass.
  * **Squire/Squiress** - NCO level rank. EB'G ranks of nobility are bestowed only on those of Squire rank or above.
  * **Man-at-arms/Shield-maiden** - basic enlisted rank for agents of the EB'G.

===== Aelirvass =====
//Aelirvass// (translated: //The Holy Mandate//) is a right of conscription dating from ancient times. Any EB'G agent of Knight rank or higher can demand resources or deputize anthegals as long as they relate directly to a mission. In modern times the Aelirvass is used sparingly, to the point that the function is often only seen in ceremonial rights by most Anthegals.
