Free Company Confederacy (FCC)
Federal militias (technically a misnomer, they should be Confederate militias) are made up of units (historically named “Free Companies”) that were originally formed to protect local populations in areas that were neutral to both the Council and Senate, yet were caught in the midst of their fighting. Soon it became a territory-holding political organization of its own. While it tries to have good relations with all other Arthenian factions, hostilities occur against many of its neighbors. It does not have a contiguous territory, however, and has been known to shift territory quickly rather than fight against larger factions. The more established factions see it as a band of roving brigands or mercenaries, and federal troops are known to use a “slash-and-burn” strategy when they are pushed out of areas.
