====== Kingslayers ======
The Kingslayers were a faction started by the ranger [[polemos:8th_age:characters:klayr_kyris|Klayr "Nocturne" Kyris]] in AE 241 to ostensibly act as a check against domestic tyranny. The name comes from a historical  [[polemos:4th_age:factions:rangers|ranger]] event where a group of rangers overthrew a despotic King of Agathos using a claim from their power of emancipation. After executing the king and establishing a ranger-led government a short but bloody civil war ensued. Modern kingslayers made no claim to anti-government intentions, but the symbolism was clear. The outward face of the organization, which included rangers for the most part but grew to include large sections of FedInt, was to prevent a second FDC-like coup. Nocturne herself stated that having been integral to the FDC's plans before, she was best positioned to prevent a similar plot in the future.

Behind the scenes, however, the Kingslayers were simply a vehicle for Nocturne to implement a personal covert master plan. While her inner circle were aware of the existence of this "true objective" the true nature of the plan and its details were known only to Nocturne.
