Mission 08: Operation Endemic Husband
Briefing
Knight Six> Good to be back out of the dog house. You all have seen the news - the media have settled on Gunpowder Anarchy as the catchy term for the recent wave of attacks. We think the capture of the Black Bishop was the trigger, but this was probably just a shift in timeline; too much planning otherwise. Good news is INOC Five got our prisoner in a VR trap, and we've learned that the Black Knight was the man leading the Meikyou bank heist - one Phyllip Yogen. But today we're focused on stopping his attacks before anarchy truly moves out of sensational headlines and into the streets. Most of the attacks have been lightning active shooter affairs that the local PDs have had to deal with, but there are scattered hostage taking that we're coordinating with FEDSEC and RANGECOM on. The straw we drew is local - while the fortball season was suspended when the attacks began, a practice session of the Dolmapolis Rangers was interrupted by armored gunmen. Six civilians were killed initially, and five more when the DPD SWAT attempted a quick-reaction assault. Most of the stadium was secured, however. The terrorists brought cameras and are now using negotiations for propaganda purposes. Hostiles hold the control room in force, have 4 team members under armed guard in the away team dugout, and are holding the team's coach onto the pitcher's mound with a networked bomb collar, with a heavily armored terrorist nearby feeding him USC propaganda for the broadcast. Secure the rest of the stadium and prevent any further loss of innocent life.
Infiltration
- INOC ground transport to Emancipation Stadium, Dolmapolis.
Objectives
- Eliminate all hostiles
- Secondary: Rescue all hostages
Exfiltration
- INOC ground transport to Agalos City HQ.
Logistics Phase
- DPD footage contains closeups of the bomb collar, which you can confirm is a custom creation. Inspecting the footage you can see it is built around a network binder, which slots into the victim's network implants and disables their network access. This model has been modified to include two arms that wrap around the neck and lock with a padlock in the front. Shaped plastic explosives are on each arm shaped to force the blast inward in a circle. While the charges are shaped to form a cutting force on the neck, the amount used means the lethality could extend as far as 2-3 yards. A consumer-grade network receiver is attached to the electronic detonator, allowing the collar to be remotely activated, potentially anywhere from the world, depending on what networks the receiver is joined to. DPD IWAR efforts to discover the device on the global and municipal network have so far failed. With network access to the device could easily be disabled, but could be re-enabled just as easily, then activated. DPD IWAR is researching a remote attack that will damage the receiver's embedded K-H generator, disabling it permanently.
