Everbounty Banquet
Welcome, to our celebration of life!
Story Intro
Holger walked down the line of shackled prisoners. His leather boots drummed on the creaking boards of the dock as he paced. The tropical air was cool and unsteady, and his black overcoat dripped steadily as the bound survivors shivered under fat globules of rain. Looming behind them the dark hull of the dread ship Forbangrav moaned under the relentless assault of the stormy tide.
Halting at the foot of the gangway, the towering Holger ducked under the drooping cloth of the Captain's pavilion. Captain Villad was thin and ill-fitted in his deep purple coat, but he sat solid as a stone upon a padded leather stool. Bowing courteously, water streamed from the Holger's long steely hair before the throne, “More than three score heads, Hett Villad, and very few spoiled. Once again you set the pace for the rest of the Svartblodjegers.”
“The mortal captain were foolish enough to sail ere the blood moon, Sir Holger, but not foolish enough to fight we Nephilim. Shall we agree at the company rate, or will ye yet keep us all marinating for a few more pennies?” came the stiff reply.
“All apologies, cousin, but as ye say the blood moon nears.” Holger produced a jingling handful of worn numbered tags, “My hidden eye spies nine that are of noble stock. Would triple rate be sufficient for you to see them escorted for final delivery?”
With the cracking of a grin the gaunt Captain seemed to gain vitality merely at the implication, “Everbounty Atoll? Aye, I could be lured to make a journey for that price.”
