For over 12 hours the unit he was attached to, the Wesdom Lancers, was surrounded by elements of the USC's 167th System Guard Division. Battlefield reporting confirmed the king died when his heavy tank was destroyed on a desperate last charge. Filos high command soon after confirmation announced his body could not be recovered, would not be given a state funeral en absentia, and would not be succeeded by a new head of state. They instead called for an advance of the entire line, and ordered all units to fight under standing orders until the last man "to follow the last king of Filos." [[polemos:8th_age:characters:jamis_avery_heraldshire|Jamis Wesdom V]] was killed today in fighting on the southern Polus front.  +Members states of the Agathos Reform Treaty resoundingly rejected votes to pursue peace negotiations with the USC today. The FPU executive committee, the first to seek compromise with the peace movement by announcing the vote, rejected their measure five to three. The FDC voted unanimously against a similar resolution, and a six to one vote at committee prevented the Commonwealth congress from attempting a full vote. In the UFPF both houses rejected the "peace bill" overwhelmingly - 74-23-3 in the assembly and six to zero vote in the Senate. In the wake of the votes peace movement leaders called for officials to respect 'The People's desire for peace' but stopped short of calling for a new wave of protests. Regardless, scattered demonstrations and small-scale riots have been reported across free Agathos into the night.

+The Agathos Bureau of Investigation led a collection of law enforcement and hastily assembled free companies into the city of Ophylus to "restore regular order." Their advance into the city saw some resistance, but under a general order only those suspected of 'leading a sedition group' were actively sought for arrest.
