Long War Timeline

Note: All times are given in SCT+0 24 hour format.

  • AE 238/04/18: Operation Blue Rebel - A covert team of agents supported by the Free Peoples Alliance is found and captured in the USC’s Eastern Military Districts, formerly the Celic Republic. They are charged with espionage and are accused of trying to start an open rebellion against the USC. The FPA officially denies any contact with the group and accuses the USC of war-mongering. This day is usually considered the start of the Long War.
  • AE 238/04/19: Celic nationalist revolts crop up in cities all over the Eastern Military Districts, the USC begins a purge of the entire region using the 5 local divisions of the 76th Army (1238th ID, 335th MID, 1083rd OD, 57th AD, and the 588th OD) in addition to the newly transferred 32nd Army. News reports showing government brutality are leaked to the world media by rebel forces.
  • AE 238/04/20: The FPA forms the 8th Special Joint Fleet. In addition to the numerous carriers and other war ships, news reports show many transport ships and landing craft in amongst the fleet on its westward heading. Widespread rumors of a FPA invasion/liberation of Celic abound, though the alliance denies the charges and says the fleet is to “defend all FPA territory from USC tyranny.” Rebel commanders in Celic take this as a promise of support, as Celic was a former FPA member, though many national units in the fleet are from nations with non-aggression clauses in their FPA membership.
  • AE 238/04/23
    • 8:00: The USC main processing unit “Divinity 0” makes a Priority A Policy Declaration with the unanimous support of the Divine Makers. In order A-385 the United Security Command formally declares war against the Free Peoples Alliance. At the very moment the declaration is made the 8th Fleet is engaged off the coast of Mena. The FPA fleet is routed in a matter of an hour by several newly designated USC taskforces including the 118th, 35th, and 92nd Combined Fleets.
  • AE 238/04/25:
    • About 20% of the remainder of the 8th Fleet reaches port in Valan. The Valan navy engages detached elements of the USC pursuit force - the skirmishes last for most of the day.

Agathonian elements of the 8th Fleet are recalled to the port in Anliana and depart immediately.

  • Elsewhere the USC 118th and 83rd Combined Fleets launch a full invasion on the Umerick sea colony Ume’shenal. Civilian and military casualties are estimated in the thousands as the floating city is bombarded and eventually occupied. Rumors that the USC MARCS class airship Gelaunth participated in the battle are quickly denied by USC media liaisons, however unconfirmed photographs quickly circulate.
  • AE 238/04/29: The USC 35th and 92nd Combined Fleets engage the UA’s 1st Joint Fleet. The 1st Fleet is annihilated. MARCS class ship Benevolence is confirmed as attached to the 92nd Combined Fleet.
    • 8:00: News reports and communicates from across the Republic of Agathos go down, while initially seen as a technical glitch, networks are cut off for over 6 hours. Many cities panic for fear of USC sabotage. Scattered riots break out, and many police forces find provincial militias mysteriously absent in this time of crisis.
    • 14:30: Networks slowly come back online, though with access still spotty at best. Sketchy reports come in of a military coup in progress all over the country. There are some reports of fighting between army units, but it is unclear if the military infighting is widespread. Dramatic footage is captured of Army Ranger units assaulting the Senate building in a heavy firefight with local Capital Police.
    • 15:00: The army releases a news bulletin across the nation’s emergency broadcast channels and news services. In it the President of Agathos orders the Senate and Represenative Assembly to dissolve, and orders all citizens to cooperate with the army’s attempt to restore order.
    • 17:00: Another presidential transmission announces a special broadcast to be aired in 3 hours time, and instructs all citizens to view it.
    • 20:10: The pre-announced broadcast is released, and finds its way to international multimedia networks. In it an angel gives a speech announcing the dissolution of the Republic of Agathos and forming the Freedom Defense Council.
    • 21:35: Phyllip Remyldin, a Unity Party Leader and Senator from Agalos province, gives a televised reaction flanked by Illyius Heron (Future Party Leader and Representitive from Arthenia), Olunn Ky’shin (Junior Libertarian Senator from Gya), and Hermil Roldin (Junior Liberal Unionist Party Representative from Physian).
    • 23:30: News agencies report that a press release sent out by the Senate announces that both the Legislative and Judicial branches of the government had arrived safely in Menopolis, and that loyalist forces were actively engaged in retaking the capital of Agalos from rebel forces.
  • AE 238/05/01: The FDC announces that loyalist forces under the command of the Senate have retreated from the capital and declares an end to fighting in Agalos City.It also makes claims to control territory throughout the nation. Estimated FDC total strength is at 2 Corps, due mainly to units that were recalled from the remnants of the 8th Joint Fleet and other western UA units. That afternoon a film crew captures a Senate attack on Agalos City. A Senate bomber squadron is seen carpet bombing the President’s capitol compound, causing immense damage to the surrounding city areas. A siege on Agalos City begins.
