Blues

The Blues were a sectarian faction of Dythos that was self-described as dedicated to the protection of individual liberty, justice, and self-reliance. Growing out of the frontier spirit of Dythonian culture they valued individualism and personal responsibility.

Membership was commonly from homesteaders, middle class artisans and traders, soldiers, clergy, and perhaps most importantly, rural estate owners. Blues were seen as traditional, viewing large societal changes with dread, and valuing property rights and traditional institutions, including the temples. Within society many saw the Blues as the voice of oligarchy, often with aspirations to rule Dythos in a manner similar to the mainland Synkletos.

Domestic Government Form Moderates favored a self-governed but weak, colonial assembly that met annually.
Base favored a strong central government with a permanent colonial assembly and so-called Sovereign in place of a Basileus.
Radicals favored a mirror government of the mainland complete with Dythonian Synkletos and Basileus.
Mainland Relations Largely against integration into the republic.
Majority in favor remaining a dependent state, but radical wing was pro-independence.
Slavery Pro-slavery, though a moderate wing was friendly to banning perpetual and inherited servitude, among other regulations.
Barbarians Sought assimilation through homesteading, reservations, and free cities.
Radical wing included arthenian supremacists.
Legal System In favor of universal rule-of-law, vehemently anti-enclave.

Blues saw “Princess” Lysandra's claim to the throne as rebellion and a gross assault against the democratic colonial traditions of Dythos.
