Lion Brigade

With the influx of immigrants and free companies following the start of the Westward Cause, Sovereign Kaile began to fear for his position. The numbers of people immigrating was too much for the colonies to handle, and living conditions and security were deteriorating rapidly. After being forced to brutally put down several riots, and fearing an emancipation was imminent Kaile convinced the colonial assembly to pass an act forming of the Lion Brigade.

Essentially the Lion Brigade is a loose command structure on top of free companies to form a militia of sorts. Any free company that joins the brigade receives state training and equipment, but can be called into a more rigid command structure under the Sovereign when needed. This unit is called the Lion Pride. While originally this call-up would be only used for emergencies, the Lion Pride is now a semi-permanent rotation of free companies that provide special security for the major Dythonian colonies.

One “free company” that is permanently attached to the Lion Pride is the Lionheart which is an elite unit hand-picked by Lion Brigade commanders. It is roughly equivalent to the ranger companies of Agothos - and members are often called “Lion Rangers.”
