Alqah'Eshem
The Great City of Canals
The most populous city of Umerail, it is built atop a series of platforms and canals over the Cypsio Delta. At its height during the 4th Age Alqah'Eshem is home to more than 1 million souls.
Shipping
Because of the delta, the harbor at Alqah'Eshem is not deep enough to house the larger ships of the Umerick fleet. This is principally why Alum'Eshalem eclipsed Alqah'Eshem in ancient times to become the military and political center of the kingdom.
Mu Crisis
During the Mu Crisis the Umerick capitol was temporarily moved to Alqah'Eshem because of its relative safety. Early after the appearance of the Mu all paths to the under-city were completely destroyed. While this did not halt better organized Mu attacks it did afford the residents much better odds of survival than entirely land based cities. The harbor was eventually improved to allow food and supplies to be unloaded into the city directly without any overland travel.
