Lynnis has a vernick father, Hans, and an arthenian mother, Elyn.
Background
Childhood
Born into a middle class family, the second of two children. His father worked as a robotics support specialist; his mother as an HR manager. His sister, older by only a year, had severe spinal and mental defects at birth. Though she would eventually be fully cybernized and able to function independently, this process was not completed until age 16. During childhood Lynnis was a middling student and had a long disciplinary record, though almost all incidents can be attributed to fights in defense of his sister one way or another.
Lynnis learned to play piano at an early age, and earned a music scholarship to Holst University in Vernick. There he learned to play both guitar and trumpet as well. He was also enrolled in the Officer Cadet's School (OCS) during his college years.
Agathos Civil War
The Agathonian civil war broke out before Lynnis could complete his music degree or enter the republic military. Patriotic all his life, he left college to join the ranks of the Senate, who he felt had the best chance to piece the republic back together. He entered service as an infantryman, with the rank of corporal to reflect his prior OCS training.
In the field Lynnis distinguished himself with valor. Fighting mainly on the Filonian front, he earned commendations and medals for bravery. He was field-promoted to sergeant when he rallied his platoon to reorganize after losing all leadership in an enemy attack. He was later put through officer's training, given a commission as a lieutenant, and promoted after battlefield successes.
While commissioned he dealt amicably with crusader units. After the formation of the Filos Assembly, he more than once disobeyed orders to attack FPU positions at the behest of the assembly. Upon the announcement of elections for the UFPF, he convinced his entire battalion to retire from the field and join federal ranks.
Rather than keep his command in the new republic, Lynnis was made a Ranger. Taking the name “Lion,” he was dismayed by the way some Rangers used the idea of the Great Emancipation as only a propaganda tool. He formed the Eleytheros Pteros Episke to band together those that would truly free the world.
