While Touyou has a vast history reaching back into pre-history, it has like no other culture embraced technology and modern living. Over 45% of the total landmass of the country is made up of towering cities, and over 80% of the population lives in them.

Parties, Ideology, and Politics

• LD (Liberal Democrats) - Centrist party that has been in every government since AE180, and majority party in 16 of 19 elections between AE162-240. Primary Liberal party but with “big tent” coalition policy with other parties, including constructionist and unionist parties, to ensure continuity. Interventionist economic policies include heavy entanglement with Zaibatsu corporations. Pro-dragoon citizenship.
• TC (Touyou Constitutionalists) - Center-right liberal party. Platform focus on Zaibatsu corruption/anti-trust issues, free market economics, and traditional Touyou culture. Primary anti-dragoon citizenship party.
• FP (Federalist Party) - Radical liberal party. Platform focus on free trade and ties with Republic of Agathos, seeking formal annexation. Pro-dragoon citizenship, pro-orthodox.
• PUP (Popular Union Party) - Center-left pro-Xiamen unionist party. Platform focus on nationalization of Zaibatsu industry and resources. Segregationist dragoon policy.
• NUP (National Union Party) - Center-left anti-Xiamen unionist party. Isolationist platform with anti-corruption and anti-corporation domestic policy. Anti-dragoon citizenship.
• FLP (Farm Labor Party) - Radical pro-Xiamen unionist party, founded by former members of unionist terrorist groups. Anti-dome and anti-urban platform. Pro-dragoon citizenship with clan breakup and cultural integration.
• FPP (Future Progressive Party) - Center-left constructionist party. Platform focus on Zaibatsu investment and re-organization and anti-Xiamen foreign policy. Dragoon policy includes cultural integration and cybernization mandates.
• HTC (Human Transcendence Council) - Radical constructionist party. Platform of pro-USC foreign policy, nationalization of Zaibatsus, and replacement of cabinet ministers and civil servants with AI. Pro-dragoon citizenship with sterilization and cybernization mandates.
